Kamuit

Age requirement

Kamuit is only for people who are 18 years of age or older. You must be 18 to create an account, book a ride, or drive on Kamuit. We collect date of birth to confirm eligibility and, for drivers, as part of identity and license checks.

Kamuit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, email support@kamuit.net. We will delete that account and related information.

For App Store and Google Play age rating: Kamuit is an 18+ carpooling and payments product, not a Kids app.

Information we collect

Account and profile

Full name

If you sign in with Google, Google may share your name, email, and profile photo. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and email (or a relay email) that you authorize.

Saved places

Home, work, or other saved addresses, map coordinates, and optional pickup notes you add (for example apartment number or gate code).

Location

While the app is open: precise GPS to show trips near you, set pickup and drop-off pins, match riders and drivers on a route, and show your position during an active trip.
In the background: only during an active trip. Drivers need this so navigation to pickups and drop-offs can continue if the phone is locked or another app is open, and so riders can see the vehicle approaching. Riders need this to keep seeing live trip progress. We do not collect background location when you are not on a trip.

Kamuit collects location data to match riders with drivers, show live trip progress, and navigate to pickups and drop-offs. This happens even when the app is closed or not in use, but only while a trip you booked or posted is active.

During matching we may show other users a general area instead of an exact pin. After a booking is confirmed, we share more specific pickup and drop-off points. On an active trip, riders on that trip can see the driver’s live location. We do not give riders the driver’s unrelated origin trail.

You can deny location permission. Maps, matching, and live-trip features will not work fully without it.

Driver identity, vehicle, and insurance

Driver’s license photo and details (number, state, expiry, legal name)
Government-issued identity documents and a selfie / liveness check processed by Stripe Identity (Stripe may use biometric comparison to confirm the person matches the ID)
Vehicle photos, registration documents, insurance documents, insurer and policy details
License plate, VIN, year/make/model and related vehicle specs
Attestation that you may use the vehicle

Kamuit staff may review these documents for safety and eligibility. Images are stored with our document host (Cloudinary). Stripe Identity document images and biometric checks are processed by Stripe; Kamuit stores verification status, not full ID numbers from Stripe’s identity files.

Payments and driver wallet

Ride payment method tokens, authorization holds, captures, refunds, and Kamuit credits
Driver earnings, cash-out / payout records, and cancellation penalties where in-app rules apply

Cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are processed by Stripe. Kamuit does not store full card numbers (PAN) on our servers. Rides are a real-world transportation cost-share. We do not sell digital goods or subscriptions inside the app, and we do not use Apple In-App Purchase for seats.

Trip records

Origins, destinations, times, and route information used for matching
Bookings, seats, fares, status history
Pickup confirmation codes (OTP)
Cancellations, refunds, credits, and related timestamps

Communications

SMS one-time codes for phone verification and sign-in (Twilio, on behalf of Kamuit)
Transactional email, including email sign-in codes (Resend)
Push-notification tokens (Expo, delivered via Apple APNs and Google FCM)
In-app support messages, including our in-app assistant (Maya) and trip-related support events
Phone numbers shared between a confirmed rider and driver so they can coordinate that trip

We may place an automated reminder call to a driver who is late for a posted trip (voice provider ElevenLabs; telephony via Twilio).

Device, app, and logs

Device type, operating system, app version, language
IP address and server logs used to operate, secure, and debug the Services
Session tokens on the device (secure storage and local app storage)

We do not collect your contacts list, microphone recordings, Bluetooth, or any advertising identifier (Apple IDFA or Android Advertising ID) for ads. We do not use the Services for behavioral advertising or ad profiling. Camera and photo library are used only for pictures you take or choose to upload (license, vehicle, insurance, or profile). We do not scan the rest of your photo library. Short app sounds (for example splash) may play through the device speaker; that is not voice recording.

Website

kamuit.com may use cookies or similar technology from our site host so the marketing site can load and remember basic preferences. The mobile app is not an advertising tracker and does not sell data to ad networks.

How we use information

Create, authenticate, and secure your account, and confirm you are 18 or older
Match riders and drivers, show maps and ETAs, and operate live trips
Verify drivers, vehicles, and insurance
Process payments, refunds, credits, and driver payouts
Send transactional SMS, email, push, and (when needed) driver reminder calls
Provide customer support and safety review
Prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations
Meet legal, tax, and record-keeping duties
Improve reliability and fix bugs

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not rent your information for marketing lists.

What we share with other users

Only as needed for a trip:

Before a driver accepts: limited profile and a general pickup/drop-off area — not a live GPS trail of your whole commute.
After accept / on the way: name, profile photo, vehicle description, pickup and drop-off, scheduled times, and phone number so you can coordinate.
During an active trip: the driver’s live location with the riders on that trip.

Co-riders are shown in a privacy-safe, aggregate way. We do not expose other riders’ full accounts to you.

Service providers

We share data with vendors only to operate Kamuit:

Stripe: Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, holds, captures, refunds, Stripe Identity, driver payouts (Connect)
Google: Maps, Places, Directions, Google Sign-In; Gemini reads registration/insurance images you upload to extract VIN, plate, owner, and expiry. Mapping features use Google Maps, and Google’s handling of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Apple: Sign in with Apple, Apple Pay, push delivery (APNs)
Twilio: SMS one-time codes for phone verification and sign-in
Resend: Transactional email, including email sign-in codes
Cloudinary: Storage of photos and documents you upload
Auto.dev: VIN and vehicle specification lookup
PlateToVIN: License-plate-to-VIN lookup for vehicle checks
Expo: Push notifications (via Apple APNs and Google FCM)
Render: Hosting of application servers and databases
ElevenLabs and Twilio: Automated voice reminder calls to late drivers

These providers may process data in the United States. They are not permitted to use Kamuit user data for their own marketing. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the platform, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (this policy would still apply to the extent required by law).

Phone permissions

Location (while using / always): maps, matching, pins, live trip. Always / background = active trip only.
Camera: driver’s license, vehicle, insurance, or profile photo.
Photos: only images you select for those uploads.
Notifications: trip, booking, and account alerts.

You can change these in the app or in iOS / Android settings.

SMS

By providing your phone number and requesting a code in the Kamuit app, you agree to receive SMS one-time passcodes for phone verification and sign-in from our messaging provider (Twilio) on behalf of Kamuit. Message frequency depends on how often you sign in or request a code (typically a small number of messages per attempt). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out of SMS. Reply HELP or email support@kamuit.net for help. After STOP, we will not send SMS until you request a new code.

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We may share a phone number only as needed to operate a confirmed trip (for example so a rider and driver can coordinate that trip) or with vendors who send messages for us under this policy — not for their own marketing.

Retention

We keep account, trip, payment, wallet, and verification records while your account is active, and afterward as needed for safety, fraud prevention, disputes, tax, and law. Support messages and logs are kept only as long as needed for those purposes. One-time codes are short-lived. Push tokens are kept until they are replaced, unregistered, or the account is deleted.

Your choices and account deletion

In the app you can view and update profile details and saved places.

Delete your account in the app

Open Kamuit and sign in.
Go to Profile.
Tap Delete My Account.
Type DELETE to confirm.

Without the app

Email support@kamuit.net from the address on your Kamuit account with the subject Account deletion request. Include the phone number or email used to sign up. Instructions are also at this deletion page.

We process deletion within 30 days, except limited records we must keep by law (for example certain payment or safety records). Deletion is permanent. Open payment holds are released when we delete the account.

Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, hashed passwords, and Stripe for card data (PCI). No system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for your login and for what you share on a trip (calls, messages, pickup notes).

California and similar U.S. rights

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request a copy of it, to correct inaccurate information, and to request deletion. The categories we collect are listed in section 2, and the purposes are listed in section 3.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@kamuit.net from the address on your Kamuit account. We will verify your identity before acting on the request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights, and you may use an authorized agent.

International users

Kamuit is built for the United States. Data is processed in the United States. If you access Kamuit from another country, you understand your information is handled in the U.S.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change. The current version is always at kamuit.com/privacy. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
